Fall 2020 Law Library Services and Resources: Law Library Collections

There have been and continue to be changes to library services. This guide serves to keep our patrons informed of any changes to library operations.

Law Library Collections

Patrons can place requests for physical items through the catalog, and requests for scans via interlibrary loan. See below for information about picking up items and returning items.

Picking Up Items from the Law Library

Patrons can place hold requests on items through the catalog. Once the request is scanned in to the hold shelf to await pickup, the patron will receive a notice to schedule their pickup date and time at that location.

Pickup availabilities:

  • CAMDEN: Monday-Friday, 9:30am - 4:30pm
  • NEWARK: Monday-Friday, 9:30am - 4:30pm

Once the patron books their pickup time, patrons will received this notice:

  • CAMDEN PATRONS: The Click and Collect cart will be just outside the entrance to the Law Library (3rd floor, West building). Your materials will be checked out and waiting on a cart for you. The book sleeve on the item(s) will display your name. When you arrive to pick up your item(s), please show your ID card to the staff member just inside the entrance to the library. Please don’t forget to wear a mask, as is required in all Rutgers University buildings.
  • NEWARK PATRONS: The Click and Collect cart will be just outside the entrance to the Law Library (main floor, far side past elevators). Your materials will be checked out and waiting on a cart for you. The book sleeve on the item(s) will display your name. When you arrive to pick up your item(s), please show your ID card to the staff member just inside the entrance to the library. Please don’t forget to wear a mask, as is required in all Rutgers University buildings.

Returning Items to the Law Library

Patrons may return to the law library locations any materials from any Rutgers library. Patrons may return materials:

  • CAMDEN: Monday-Friday, 9:30am - 4:30pm
  • NEWARK: Monday-Friday, 9:30am - 8:30pm

Patrons will be directed to this site for information about returning materials at each Rutgers library location: https://www.libraries.rutgers.edu/returns

Information about your outstanding loans

  • Due back dates for active checkouts (not in lost status) will be adjusted until 9/30/20 , which includes materials received by ILL.
  • Outstanding items on Holds shelves have been/will be processed. If electronic access to an item is available, your hold will be cancelled, and you will be directed to search the catalog to find the electronic version.
  • Overdue and fine notices have been suspended until normal operations resume.
    • The extended due back dates will ensure that no new fines accrue for regular checkouts.
